 Re: ccw
I already have the hc in .45 with many 12 and 10 round mags for bed stand, this would be carry and for the wife and daughter to shoot at range.

 Re: ccw
Go with the Kimber, but get it in 38 Super. Much better round than the 9mm as the 38 Super is around the energy/velocity of a .357.
I only have two different cal pistols, they are the .45 & .38 Supers both in Kimber.
I have several "pop guns" stashed around the house and vehicle, they are in .32acp, 380acp. North American Arms and my favorite hide-out is the PPK.
Your ladies should be able to handle the 38 Super no prob.

 Re: ccw
Not exactly sure of your “plug and play” question... Just to clarify....38 Super and 9mm ammunition is NOT interchangeable in the same gun (not at all like shooting .38 Special ammo in your .357 Magnum revolver – which is OK) If this was not your question I apologize I do agree with Boyd that overall the .38 Super is better cartridge than the 9mm, but when it comes to popularity and availability of ammo the 9mm is much easier to feed.

 Re: ccw
Not really. The 38 Super is a longer, non tapered case. which means you have to seat the 38 Super bullet deeper into the case in order to equal the length of the 9mm. I have done the same thing in a S&W model 39. will work but really not satisfactory. I'm talking magazine length here. also have to pay attention to the feed ramp. I thought the Kimber you were eying was a new one. Sorry charlie. Side note to HST: The PPK is an ideal hide out or second back-up piece for ankle wear. Light, thin, accurate, and pure sexy. Plus as you know the .380 or 9mm Kurtz is the minimum for serious manstoppping firepower.

 Re: ccw
In a mil spec 1911, if you have a 9mm or a 38 super “slide” all you need to buy is a barrel and Mags, only thing to watch for is your frame set up for a feed ramp or not. And buy accordingly. I have a colt 1911 38 super with an extra 9mm barrel and mags. And a Springfield 9mm with an extra 38 super barrel and mags. Also a colt 22LR upper that will work on both.

 Re: ccw
thank you for all the replies but have gone a different direction as the wife for valentines day bought me a cz po7 9mm.the controls are very close to the same as my hk and it is double action first shot and single after.no safety, just decocker.i was able to put 100 rounds of winchester ranger 124 gr i think.only 1 ftf from the mag and it looked as if it could have been my error on loading mag as it was at too high of angle to feed.trigger is nice and im sure it will get better.size wise it is about the same as the glock 19 and holds 16 in the mag.i will be ordering a in the waist holster soon.

 Re: ccw
I've got mine. Its a total workhorse and does everything it is designed to do...and has about as much personality and soul as a shovel. On the other hand... the 1911 platform has that been there, done that, endured for 100 years, cool factor going for it.
