Post What not to do II
When conservatives get together to discuss issues, inevitably people will show up who disagree with them. There is nothing wrong with that. However, for posters who come here simply with the goal of disagreeing with the posters here, let me advise you of a few policies I have settled on over the 5 years or so we've been active.

Part of what distinguishes Hoptown Hall from other forums is that I have tried to foster an atmosphere conducive to meaningful discussion. Part of creating that atmosphere is that I expect people to actually discuss the issues, not just hurl insults. I certainly don't mind simple comments, but I prefer a deeper analysis. I tend to tolerate simple comments, even harsher ones, from posters who have "proven their worth" by discussing issues more deeply over time. Looked at another way, if you've developed some "streed cred", you may feel freer to simply comment as your stand on things will be well known by the other participants.

What I do not tolerate are posters who come here solely to disagree and hurl insults without ever discussing issues with any depth. Over the years I have tried to reason with these type posters and it gets me nowhere. Typically these are irrational leftists who have no desire to examine the truth of an issue, they only want to yell. So if I warn a poster one or at most twice and the behavior continues, I will without hesitation deactivate the account, and I will delete any further accounts created by the same person.

This is especially true if an email is used that is designed to hide the identity of the poster. If a "real person" email is used, I will try to reason with the poster and try to steer them into meaningful discussion, but only for so long. My goal here was and still is to have a forum where conservatives can meet and discuss issues. I certainly don't mind disagreements, because we're here to discuss issues. But presuming the high ground and hurling insults without documenting your position will get you tossed.

Keep it civil and participate. Please don't sign up if all you want to do is insult conservatives.

Thanks.
